The Swimmer

A guy was the former all-star, state champion swimmer for his school.

Enough time had lapsed since his “glory”that the last time he even dipped a toe in a pool was in highschool.

And of course, enough “other” priorities have kept him out of the realm of fitness almost entirely, save for climbing stairs to his office at work since there were no elevators.

His boss announced a get together barbecue at his place that weekend.

Of course, he did not give any more thought to it other than it sounded like it would be a pleasant time.

When Saturday came and he got to his boss house, he saw everyone in the back; when he go there, lo and behold…

...a gorgeous swimming pool stared back at him.

He was able to get through the barbecue portion of the day’s events pleasant enough, though of course, the temptation was always in the back of his mind to “take the plunge”.

When afternoon bled into evening, the festivities were taken inside.

When a party game had the rest of the goers occupied, he found his chance,

...he left everyone and took the dip.

He made sure to make his “entry” as quiet as possible, not to startle everyone with a large splash.

His dive was successful, even after all these years.

“Still got it.”
