Meditation, and the general umbrella term of "mindfulness" of which it is a component, is seemingly the "in" thing to do, nowadays.
Also, it seems that the "in" catch-all word to describe unsavory things is "problematic"; both mindfulness in general and meditation in particular as something "to do" is problematic itself.
There is no "doing" meditation, if you are trying to get something out of it.
You don't get anything out of meditation.
It is impossible to get anything out of meditation.
You might think if that's the case, why do so many people prescribe it?
Well, many people are in the business to steal your money by selling you shoddy spiritual goods. Anyone that is able to coerce you, or even if they are gentler, "persuade" you, the result is the same.
You remain in the same depraved situation you were in before hand
...just a little poorer.
What is meditation?
There is no definition because there is nothing to get.
Meditation is silence.
You don't practice mindfulness and meditation to become more peaceful
to reduce your anxiety
to get rid of your depression
Meditation is to be done just for meditation's sake.
If you have any issues, you must fight those issues head on.
Don't hide behind meditation and think it's solving your problems.
