A Rock In the Desert

Money cycles, love fades, passion oscillates. Our dreams today seem the hollow delusions tomorrow. Knowledge is undermined and rewritten. The page we decide to pin as truth is ground to dust as we read on. Flux is the natural state of existence.

We live our lives as if travelers upon the shifting sands of a vast desert, wandering, searching, striving. Never achieving, walking to exhaustion but never going anywhere.

One day, we discover the outcroppings of something solid. We observe the wind shuffling sand in all directions and velocities, but through the dynamic particles we see that the discovered solid, the rock, remains the same. It is noble in its peace, its quietude, its stillness. Ground yourself upon it. Hold on for dear life. Without it, you are lost to the desert. Before you had no place; now, you understand what it means to be here.

This is wisdom. That which can never be taken from us. Only that which we can truly call “our own.” Truth. That which does not, and cannot change.

That which always shifts and turns can never be of lasting value. Ground yourself on wisdom’s unmoving mantle. Pursue wisdom with enough honesty and integrity and slowly, you will begin to learn from it. You will begin to become sure, to become clear, to become true, to become unchanging, and to become of great value. In wisdom is all these things.
